Audio Work
I’m currently a producer for the call-in news show, Vermont Edition, which is broadcast live Monday through Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m. I pitch story ideas, book and preinterview guests, edit audio, engage listeners on social media, and handle all the little ins and outs that pop-up five seconds before showtime. I’m like Roz from Fraiser, except I live in Vermont and our host is nicer.
Some of my favorite Vermont Edition shows that I’ve produced:
Drag queen Sasha Velour studied cartooning in White River. Now she's on a world tour
'Higher ed has lost something that's critical': Reflecting on Goddard College's closure
A UVM team is creating a massive database of research about opioid use disorder
Vermont poet laureate Bianca Stone on finding poetry in everyday life
Three young Vermont activists on how COVID-19 shaped their work, and what keeps them going
Many Vermonters find spirituality outside traditional religious groups
Talking trash: Where does it go and what can we do about it?

To coincide with the 25th anniversary of civil unions in Vermont, I spoke with LGBTQ+ Vermonters who were coming of age and coming out when civil unions became legal. I also interviewed former state Rep. Bill Lippert, the only openly gay legislator at the time, reflecting on his watershed speech about civil unions on the House floor.
Additional reporting and interviews at Vermont Public:
Middlebury tries to break the world record for most dogs to attend a film screening
‘Sasquatch is a beloved entity here:’ Thousands attend Adirondack Sasquatch Festival
Inside carillonneur's quest to represent Middlebury College's student body through song
Getting schooled on eclipses: Addison County students dive into the cosmic spectacle
Vermont's Poetry Out Loud winner faced stage fright and found her voice
Debut novel ‘Liquid, Fragile, Perishable’ explores how fictional Vermont characters collide
I’ve also reported for the podcast Brave Little State in episodes on the history of Vermont road names and the role of public libraries.
Before moving to Vermont, I was a freelance contributor to the Allegheny Front, a weekly environmental news show covering Western Pennsylvania and Ohio.
I got to hang out with some cool goats (plus their human coworkers) and hear how a local community is fighting invasive plants through goatscaping.
All That’s Left Is the Roar
The Westbrook High School Marching Band received a gold medal at the last Maine State Finals in 2019. Whether they can repeat that success depends on how much the band has been impacted by two major events— the COVID-19 pandemic and a fire that has kept students from attending class together as the high school rebuilds. Is it really about gold medals or the community that marching band creates?

The first piece of narrative audio I ever produced came from a class at the University of Pittsburgh taught by Professor Erin Anderson.
All For a Piece of Plywood is an audio documentary on pop artist Keith Haring and his brief time in Pittsburgh as an art school drop out before moving on to success in New York City. Part untold art history, part scavenger hunt, part personal-reckoning.
